I'm not sure when this happened, but due to reports of folks in lj_ads complaining about a blaring ad on the front page, I went to scope it out and report it according to the last advice I was given on the best way to cope with undesirable ads, as opposed to reporting them to this community which was an overly negative action ( Read more... )

rahaeli was kind enough to give us some insight on how the remnant ad system works and what to do to report inappropriate ads to best ensure they can be identified. Six Apart Chooses Omniture to Enhance Social Networking Platforms, presumably including LiveJournal. It says that J.T. Stephens is the "Director of Marketing at Six Apart", and used to work at Overstock.com. Scott Kraft's title on the staff page is "EVP Marketing". Someone reports that the ads are incompatible with their work's firewall filters and are being recorded as "pornography".

I wanted to crosspost an entry here which I wrote in my personal journal today. It doesn't deal directly with the issue of not wanting LJ ads, but it deals with an issue some people have been having with popups on LiveJournal. Popups on LiveJournal? Say it ain't so.
